Sam is from a sheep and beef farm in the South Waiararapa. Sam spent 3 years at Massey University in Palmerston North, completing a major in Finance. He has travelled internationally spending time working in Canada and Australia on several family owned and commercial farming operations in sheep, beef and broadacre cropping. He also has been part of running his family farming business, focusing on land development and intensification, business analysis and environmental sustainability.
